probably French, late 19th/early 20th century, cartouche shaped with burlwood panels, border with marquetry inlay above wooden platform, copper liner, 7 x 16 in., traces of gilt highlights, minor chips and losses to wood veneer, wooden platform with old repair at both ends a lacquered gilt bronze mounts and details; with modern footed and inlaid planter of square section, 8 in., no liner, minor separations, otherwise good condition
